The Toy Bag: Reviews of Books & Toys for Babies, Toddlers, & Young Children

A common remark made by many parents is, “I spent all this money on a great new toy for my child, and she’s more interested in playing with the box than the toy!” This blog offers descriptions and opinions about toys, books, & other resources for both children considered to be typically developing as well as those with special needs. I have tried, when possible, to provide suggestions on how to modify toys to make them fun for children at all developmental levels.

About Me

Paula Horner, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Southern California, United States
My Ph.D.is in Communicative Disorders & I have been a speech language pathologist for over 20 years. I truly love what I do, which is one of the reasons I decided to start this blog. Using toys, books, and people games effectively with the children I work with is critical to successful intervention with infants and toddlers. My aim is to help parents & caregivers choose toys & books that will give them great play value for their money. The opinions, for better or for worse, are my own. I hope someone out there finds this a helpful resource!
